  1. Body Composition & Fitness Analysis

After the initial phone conversation, if it seems we are a fit you will be invited to visit the studio and continue the conversation.

In person, Lisa or one of our Functional Aging Specialists  will continue to listen to you to further determine the “rightness” of our fitness approach for you. We are not interested in selling to you! This is not magic! We may want to know……

    Why now?
    What has changed?
What has worked for you in the past?
What is your level of commitment? Both financially and physically?
What will life be like for you if you don’t do this?
How do you think we can help you?

Just as you would not see a new doctor without a complete physical.  It is equally importance to us that we have a complete understanding of your physical fitness BEFORE we make recommendations and quote prices to you.

After you have filled out a consent form and health history par Q , then the following composition and analysis may be performed. Accurate information about body composition is crucial in establishing realistic weight management goals and determining overall levels of fitness. When we get to know you, we can then make informed, educated recommendations and design an individualized fitness plan to help you reach your stated personal goals.

After client has filled out a consent form and health history par Q, then the following composition and analysis may be performed. Accurate information about body composition is crucial in establishing realistic weight management goals and determining overall levels of fitness. When we get to know you, we can then make informed, educated recommendations.

First we weigh the client in order to establish a base for the rest of the composition. We do not believe that scale weight is a healthy or accurate means of measuring one’s overall health.

Typically we take the client’s blood pressure and pictures next while they are still feeling fairly relaxed about the whole process.

Caliper Skinfold Analysis: This method is the most widely used body composition testing method for assessing percent body fat. Equipment used for this assessment includes a skinfold caliper. A Skinfold Caliper is designed specifically for simple accurate measurement of subcutaneous tissue. We use a 4 site skinfold to assess a client.

    How accurate is this test?
If each test is performed correctly according to the recommended guidelines, there is a +/- 3% error.

    Site 1: Bicep

    Site 2: Triceps

    Site 3: Subscapular

    Site 4: Suprailiac

At Your Personal Best Training Studio we believe success is measurable in many different ways.

Your composition will continue with a 5 point measure with a tape that includes: Upper Arm, Chest/Back, Umbilicus (Naval), Hips/Butt (Gluteus) and Thigh.

    The umbilicus measure is shown.

    What is a Fitness Analysis?

Step Test is for cardiovascular fitness. Heart rate is taken before and after the assessment. Client continuously steps up and down at a step height that has been determined comfortable to the client’s knees for up to three minutes. Heart health is rated on an aspiring, solid or strong scale depending on BPM following the test. After 1 minute off the step the heart rate is taken again to measure rate of recovery. This assessment cannot be performed on everyone.

Upper Body Strength and Core Balance: Provides us with knowledge of client’s upper body and core strength based on body’s position on the stability ball. After performing 10 reps, client rates level of difficulty on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being very hard. Strength is rated on an aspiring, solid or strong scale with regard to need for improvement. This assessment cannot be performed on everyone.

Lower Body Strength: Client performs as many squats as can in one minute on a step that is positioned at a height that angles the knees to approximately 90 degrees. Number of squats performed is rated on an aspiring, solid or strong scale with regard to need for improvement. We many times take another heart rate following this exercise. This assessment cannot be performed on everyone.
With all of the above information and the client’s desired and stated goals, we can then make educated recommendation based on the following: Concern for Muscle ~ Moderate Aerobic Exercise ~ Right Nutrition. The client may then hire us in any capacity they wish or leave their time with us feeling educated and empowered to make “right” fitness decisions.

    YOUR HEALTH IS PRICELESS!
